Richard Y. Segawa, 84, of Gardena, Calif., died July 5 at Sunnyside Skilled Nursing Hospital in Torrance, Calif. Born in Hilo, he was retired as deputy engineer at Glendale County, Calif., played on the the Hilo High School Vikings championship basketball teams of 1944-46, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
